Derek Eoff defeated Mike Hoffman 246-202 to win the MAST event at Spartan Bowl in McFarland Sunday. The victory was Eoff’s sixth MAST title. Eoff earned $673 for the win, with Hoffman taking home $372 for second. The other payouts were $238 for 3rd-4th, $180 for 5th-8th, and $139 for 9th-16th. Eoff also received $130 from the Bet To Win pot.
65 bowlers competed on Spartan’s house shot. The cut to 16th after four games of qualifying was 928. Tournament leader Mike Dole strung together games of 300-267-289-278 for an tour-record 1134 qualifying block, surpassing previous record sets by Jon Schalow (1115, Wildcat Lanes, 9/21/2013) and Joe Munro (1112, Lake Ripley Lanes, 10/27/2002). Dole receives 25 bonus points in the M&J Truck and Auto Repair Points Race for leading qualifying. Defending champion Hoffman qualified second with 1076 (280-249-290-257). Despite the high scoring pace, Dole (300-856) and Hoffman (819) accounted for the only honor scores of the day.
Tour sponsor M&J Truck and Auto Repair added $200 to the tournament prize fund. Badger Pro Shop provided a Storm IQ Tour 30 bowling ball at cost, won by Mark Newkirk. Host center Spartan Bowl added three $10 gift cards (won by Chris Jackson, Mike Dole, and Chris Pounders) and also provided a lineage discount. MAST extends a big Thank You to M&J Truck and Auto Repair, Badger Pro Shop and Spartan Bowl for their generosity.
MAST would like to remind anyone interested in bowling next month’s doubles event at Middleton Sport Bowl (Saturday 2/27) to visit the MAST Facebook page or contact a MAST tournament official to reserve a spot. Due to space and allotted time that tournament is capped at 40 teams.
