Paul Bober (258) and Chris Hill (214) outlasted Chris Pounders (236) and Matt Mysliwiec (225) in a closely-contested final match 472-461 to win the MAST doubles event at Lake Ripley Lanes in Cambridge Saturday. Bober & Hill made their run from the eighth & final qualifying spot (1,800), and survived a tight first-round match 483-481 against top seeds Del Geitz and Rick Erce en route to the win. This marked the fifth career MAST title for Bober and the first for Hill.
Bober & Hill earned $1,170 for the victory, with Pounders and Mysliwiec taking home $656 for second. The other match-play payouts Saturday were $400 for 3rd-4th and $262 for 5th-8th. MAST also paid out three additional spots with $142 for 9th (Ron Wallenkamp & Kyle Guertsen – 1,783), $!40 for tenth (Chris Pierson & David Labinski – 1,778), and $138 for eleventh (Kevin Thompson & Jeff Prein – 1,775).
Ninety bowlers competed across two squads on Lake Ripley’s house pattern. Geitz & Erce led qualifying at 1,961. Cody Ramsden was the high individual qualifier at 1,017, and will receive 25 bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. There were no honor counts during the day Saturday; Ramsden had the only near-miss with a 299 game to open qualifying.
Tour sponsor Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop donated a pair of Motiv Hydra bowling balls (one at cost), won by Gail Myers and Corey Schmidt. Host center Lake Ripley Lanes provided a lineage discount and added $10 gift cards won by Lindsay Conklin, Drew Latsch, and Shaun Taliaferro. Combined proceeds resulted in $400 added to the tournament’s prize fund. MAST extends a huge Thank You to Phoenix Pro Shop and Lake Ripley Lanes for their generosity.
Our next event will be at Leisure Lanes in Monroe on Sunday, December 9th.
