Tony Oliva defeated Dal Geitz 258-206 to win the MAST event at Leisure Lanes in Monroe Sunday. Oliva shot 245 to finish qualifying in 15th at 908, outlasted #2 seed Cody Roedner 215-211, then averaged over 250 through his final three matches en route to victory, his third career MAST title.

Oliva earned $524 for the win, with Geitz taking home $290 for second. The other match-play payouts Sunday were $185 for 3rd-4th, $140 for 5th-8th, and $108 for 9th-16th.

Fifty-eight bowlers competed on host center Leisure Lanes’ house pattern. The cut after four games of qualifying was 907, with the twelfth (911) through sixteenth qualifiers finishing within five pins. Defending champion Chris Gibbons led qualifying at 1037; he will receive 25 bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. There were no honor counts Sunday; Todd Kjell had a pair of near-misses with 796 (244-299-253) over his last three qualifying games to overcome a 152 start and qualify 6th, before eventually falling to Oliva 234-195 in the semifinals.

Tour sponsor Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop donated a Track Mako Attack bowling ball at cost, won by Brittany Svendsen. Host center Leisure Lanes provided a lineage discount and added three $10 gift cards, won by David Bader (x2) and Mike Hoffman. Total proceeds resulted in $232 added to the tournament prize fund. MAST extends a huge Thank You to Phoenix Pro Shop and Leisure Lanes for their generosity.
