Tony Oliva (238) and Nathan Michalowski (181) defeated Chris Pollentier (196) and Mike Hoffman (216) 419-412 to win the MAST doubles event at Middleton Sport Bowl Saturday. Oliva and Michalowski claimed the top seed for match play with a 1,966 qualifying set, and survived a closely-fought final match with Michalowski striking out in the tenth frame to secure the win. This marked the fourth career MAST title for both gentlemen, and the second this season for Oliva following his victory at Leisure Lanes in Monroe in December.

Oliva & Michalowski took home $1,104 for the win, with Pollentier & Hoffman earning $602 for second. The other match play payouts Saturday were $404 for 3rd-4th and $272 for 5th-8th. MAST also paid one additional cash spot with $154 for 9th (Kyle Nielsen & Tony Thaden – 1,821). Oliva and Michalowski also claimed $260 from the Bet To Win pot.

Seventy-six bowlers competed on Sport Bowl’s house pattern. The cut after eight games of qualifying was 1,830. Mike Hoffman was the high individual qualifier at 1,009, he receives twenty-five bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. Two bowlers posted honor counts, 300 games by Gail Myers and Donovan Thomas in the second games of their respective qualifying sets.

Sean Short and Capitol Tire & Service donated $300 to the prize fund for this event. Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop donated two Storm Street Fight bowling balls (one at cost), won by Becky James and Jeff Barsness. Host center Middleton Sport Bowl provided a lineage discount and added four $10 gift cards, won by James, Barsness, Chris Jackson, and Todd Kjell. Combined these resulted in $642 added to the tournament prize fund. MAST extends a huge Thank You to Capitol Tire, Phoenix Pro Shop, and Middleton Sport Bowl for their generosity.
