Cody Roedner defeated Chris Gibbons 289-234 to win the MAST event at Dream Lanes Saturday. Roedner qualified fifth at 933, then averaged over 257 in his four matches en route to the win. This was Roedner’s third career MAST title and second this season, having previously teamed with Corey Schmidt to win the doubles event at Schwoegler’s last month.
Roedner earned $650 for the win, with Gibbons taking home $359 for second. The other match play payouts Saturday were $230 for 3rd-4th, $174 for 5th-8th, and $134 for 9th-16th.
Sixty-one bowlers competed on Dream’s Majors Scratch oil pattern. The cut after four games of qualifying was 901. Tim Janz led qualifying at 985, earning him twenty-five bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. Despite the relatively high scoring pace, there were no honor counts on the day.
Tour co-sponsor Matt Maly and M & J Truck and Auto Repair added $500 to the prize fund for this event. Tour co-sponsor Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop donated a Motiv Forge Fire bowling ball at cost, won by Mark Newkirk. Host center Dream Lanes provided a lineage discount and added four $10 gift cards, won by Roedner, Rob Hamilton, David Labinski, and Justin Petrey. Combined proceeds resulted in $735 added to the tournament prize fund. MAST extends a huge Thank You to M & J Truck and Auto Repair, Phoenix Pro Shop, and Dream Lanes for their generosity.
