Andy Mills defeated Nick Heilman 245-235 to win the Survivor finals at the MAST event at Spartan Bowl in McFarland Saturday. Mills qualified sixth at 984, then averaged over 236 through four rounds of survivor play en route to the win, his fourth career MAST title.
Mills earned $610 for the victory, with Heilman taking home $337 for second. The other Survivor-round payouts Saturday were $216 for 3rd-4th, $163 for 5th-8th, and $126 for 9th-16th. Mills also earned $80 from the Bet to Win pot.
Sixty-one bowlers competed on Spartan’s house shot. The cut after four games of qualifying was 941. Rick Erce led qualifying at 1021, he earns twenty-five bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race for his effort. There were two honor counts Saturday, 300 games during qualifying by Heilman and Braxton Miller.
Tour co-sponsor Matt Maly and M & J Truck and Auto added $300 to the prize fund for this event. Tour co-sponsor Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop donated a Hammer Redemption Solid bowling ball at cost, won by Joe Eith. Host center Spartan Bowl added three $10 gift cards, won by Andy Mills, Tim Janz, and Darrel Schepp. Total proceeds from these resulted in $536 added to the prize fund for this event.
