Chris Pounders defeated Jon Schalow 222-161 as MAST completed its postponed 2019-20 regular season at Ten Pin Alley in Fitchburg Saturday. Pounders led qualifying at 862, then averaged over 237 through three matches en route to the win, his fifteenth career MAST title and second of the 2019-20 season.
Thirty-seven bowlers competed on a pair of oil patterns, the 44-foot pattern from the 2019 WSBT Over 40/Under 40 Doubles, and the 36-foot pattern from the 2019 GIBA Two-Pattern Doubles. The cut after four games of qualifying was 759. There were no honor counts during the day Saturday.
Jeff Richgels and 11thFrame.com sponsored this event, donating $300 to the tournament prize fund. Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop donated a Roto Grip Rubicon bowling ball at cost, won by Rodger Schalow. Bill Pounders and host center Ten Pin Alley provided a lineage discount and added four $10 gift cards, won by Rodger Schalow, Chris Pounders, Kevin Thompson, and Gail Myers. Combined proceeds resulted in $432 added to the prize fund for this event. MAST extends a huge Thank You to 11thFrame.com, Phoenix Pro Shop, and Ten Pin Alley for their generosity.
This marked the end of the 2019-20 MAST regular season. Pounders’ victory Saturday also allowed him to climb up from 3rd place to claim the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race with 1,958 points. Nick Wetzel finishes the season with the high average of 229.6596. These achievements will be recognized during our rescheduled year-end event at Prairie Lanes on October 3rd-4th, which will be contested on the Kegel Beaten Path oil pattern.
