MAST held its inaugural Trios event at Ten Pin Alley Saturday, with the team of Brad Hebbe, Wade Staude and Gabe Staude defeating Chris Pounders, Jeff Richgels and Chris Gibbons 699-669 to earn their respective first MAST titles.
Hebbe, Staude & Staude finished qualifying with games of 746 and 655, climbing from 11th to earn the third seed at 2,622, and averaged over 224 per bowler through three rounds of match play en route to the win. Pounders, Richgels & Gibbons shot 1,370 over their last two qualifying games, moving up from sixth and claiming the top seed at 2,657, and shot 680 in winning their semifinal game to reach the title match.
The team payouts Saturday were $1,032 for first, $591 for second, $393 for 3rd-4th, and $306 for 5th-6th.
Twenty three-person teams competed on Kegel’s Titanium oil pattern. The cut after four team games of qualifying was 2,586. Ryan Zagar finished qualifying with consecutive 279 games to claim top individual qualifier at 1,013, earning him fifty bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race.
Jeff Richgels and 11thFrame.com sponsored this event, adding $300 to the tournament prize fund. Tour co-sponsor Ten Pin Alley Pro Shop donated a 900 Global Eternity Pi bowling ball at cost, won by Greg Ziedonis. Host center Ten Pin Alley added three $10 gift cards, won by Casey Gibney (x2) and Ryan Zagar. Total proceeds resulted in $563 added to the prize fund for this event. Our next event will be at Watertown Bowl 18 in Watertown on Saturday, October 7th at 11:30am. That event will be contested on the center’s house pattern, and will feature Survivor finals. We hope to see you all there.
