Schalow Wins Prairie Lanes for Fifth MAST Title

Jon Schalow defeated Chris Gibbons 215-195 at Prairie Lanes Sunday to win our first event of the 2025-26 MAST season.

Schalow finished his qualifying set with 278 to climb from fourteenth to eighth at 963, then averaged over 234 through four rounds of match play to secure his fifth career MAST title.

Gibbons posted scores of 258 and 287 in his last two qualifying games to climb from seventeenth to third at 994. He averaged over 238 in his first three games of match play, with all three matches being decided by ten pins or less, on his way to the final.

Schalow earned $666 for the win, with Gibbons taking home $381 for second. The other match play payouts Sunday were $238 for 3rd-4th, $159 for 5th-8th, and $127 for 9th-16th. Schalow also earned $90 from the Bet To Win pot.

Fifty-six bowlers competed on Prairie’s house pattern. The cut after four games of qualifying was 893. Derek Eoff led qualifying at 1,021, earning fifty bonus points in our Pabst Points Race. Despite the relatively high scoring pace, there were no honor counts posted Sunday.

MAST extends a huge Thank You to Ultimate Power Electric for being our Title Sponsor for this event, adding $300 to the tournament’s prize fund. Thanks also to Storm for donating a Roto Grip Gremlin bowling ball at cost, won by Sam, and to host center Prairie Lanes for donating a gift certificate, won by Heath Haug.
