Tristian Albrecht and Ryan Zagar defeated Gail Myers and Ethan Jones 492-434 to win the MAST split doubles event at Sport Bowl in Middleton Saturday.

This marks Zagar’s fourth career MAST Title, and Albrecht’s second career title and second this season, after teaming with Caitlin Powers to win our split doubles event at Lake Ripley Lanes back in October. On the other side, Jones had been seeking his third title in four finals this season, and Myers was seeking his eighteenth career title.

Albrecht opened his qualifying set with 290, and finished the first block in third place at 955. Zagar followed up with 1,007 to help the pair qualify second at 1,962. The duo then posted both of the Survivor-round cut numbers with 427 and 448 to reach the title match.

Albrecht and Zagar earned $1,648 for the win, with Myers and Jones taking home $876 for second. The other Survivor round payouts Saturday were $489 for 3rd-4th and $283 for 5th-8th. MAST also paid out three additional cash spots, with Matt Pursell and Ryan Vail earning $178 (9th – 1,810), followed by a tenth-place tie at 1,809 between Matt Hibbard/Trenton Holz and Trey Arnold/Cory Lenz, with both duos taking home $169. Albrecht and Zagar also earned $160 from the Bet to Win pot.

Forty-two doubles teams competed on Sport Bowl’s house pattern. The cut after eight games of qualifying was 1,821. Jones led all individual qualifiers with 1,045, earning him fifty bonus points in the Pabst Points Race. Despite the higher scoring pace, Jones and Jon Schalow posted the day’s only two honor counts with 300 games during qualifying.
