MAST’s all-time career titles leader Jeff Richgels defeated Drew Latsch 267-236 to win the MAST event at Viking Lanes in Stoughton Saturday, earning his 28th career title.
Richgels qualified fourth at 983, and maintained that pace averaging 246 through three matches en route to the win. Latsch qualified sixth at 973, and earned his berth in the final with a 234-233 win over the second seed Chris Pounders, posting two strikes and a nine-count in his tenth frame to advance. Latsch was seeking his first career MAST title.
Richgels earned $433 for the win, with Latsch taking home $309 for second. The other match-play payouts Saturday were $209 for 3rd-4th and $161 for 5th-8th. MAST also paid out one additional cash spot Saturday, with $93 going to Dylan Shafel in ninth (952). Richgels also earned $95 from the Bet to Win pot.
Thirty-five bowlers competed on Viking’s house shot. The cut after four games of qualifying was 961. Gabe Roderick led qualifying at 1,035, earning him fifty bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. Despite the high scoring pace, there were no honor counts posted Saturday.
This event’s prize fund was bolstered by added funds of $300 from tour co-sponsor M & J Truck and Auto, and $100 from host center Viking Lanes.
