Derek Eoff shot 1751 to lead qualifying on day 1 of the 2015-2016 MAST Year-End tournament at Leisure Lanes in Monroe Saturday. Eoff’s run included a string of three straight 250 games (258-255-256) en route to a 969 first block.
Gail Myers, after falling nearly 60 pins out of the cut with a 170 in game five, rebounded with 672 over his last three games to climb all the way to the tenth qualifying spot at 1598.
Forty bowlers competed on the 2016 USBC Open Championships Team pattern. The cut to 12th after eight games of qualifying was 1589, with only nine bowlers managing to average over 200 on the day.
The other bowlers joining Eoff and Myers in match play Sunday are Jeff Richgels (1735), Tim Janz (1687), Chris Gibbons (1676), Tony Oliva (1667), Cody Ramsden (1661), David Beres (1661), Ron Blanchar (1628), Todd Kjell (1606), Kevin Thompson (1598), and Ron Wallenkamp (1589). Match play will be contested on the 2016 USBC Open Chanmpionships Minors pattern. Bowlers will compete in eleven round-robin matches plus a final position round, with the top four advancing to the stepladder finals.
