Anderson defends MAST title at Village

Kyle Anderson defeated Jeff Richgels 246-221 at Village Lanes Sunday, successfully repeating his title run at Village last season. Anderson qualified third at 939, and followed that up with 954 over four games of match play en route to the win. Richgels, the MAST career title leader (25), was seeking his sixth win in ten career title matches at Village.

Anderson received $608 for the win, with Richgels taking home $336 for second. The other match play payouts were $215 for 3rd-4th, $163 for 5th-8th, and $126 for 9th-16th.

Sixty-five bowlers competed on Village’s house shot, with a four-game qualifying score of 855 required to advance to match play. Brent Ritchie led qualifying with 986, but lost a hard-fought match 214-207 to Kirk Fakes in the opening round of match play. Ritchie will receive an additional 25 points in the M&J Truck and Auto Repair Points Race. There were no honor counts on the day; Anderson delivered the only near-miss with a 299 in the third game of qualifying.

Tour co-sponsor Schwoegler’s Pro Shop donated a Roto Grip Wreck-It bowling ball at cost, won by Chris Pollentier. Host center Village Lanes provided a lineage discount and added three $10 gift cards, won by Corey Schmidt, Darin Johnson, and Brody Way. The lineage discount and raffle proceeds added a combined $365 to the tournament’s prize fund. MAST extends a huge Thank You to Schwoegler’s Pro Shop and Village Lanes for their generosity.

MAST would like to remind participants that our next event Sunday October 9th at Dream Lanes will feature an additional $500 from tour co-sponsor M&J Truck and Auto Repair. We hope to see you all there.
