Corey Schmidt and Cody Roedner defeated Paul Bloemer and Steve Schmit 412-408 to win the survivor finals of the MAST doubles event at Schwoegler’s Entertainment Center in Madison Sunday. Schmidt & Roedner claimed the eighth & final qualifying spot at 1,691, then shot 451 to grab the last of four spots to advance out of the opening round of survivor play, en route to the win. This marks the second career MAST title for both bowlers.

Schmidt & Roedner earned $1,032 for the win, with Bloemer & Schmidt taking home $578 for second. The other survivor-round payouts Sunday were $352 for 3rd-4th and $230 for 5th-8th. MAST also paid three additional cash spots Sunday, going to Kevin Punzel & Todd Kjell in 9th (1,682 – $128), Dave Labinski and Dave Beres in 10th (1,663 – $124), and Kevin Thompson and Jeff Prein in 11th (1,660 – $122).
Eighty-eight bowlers competed on the 35-foot Kegel Boardwalk oil pattern. William Welch and Steven Brinkman led qualifying at 1,791. Welch was the high individual qualifier at 951; he receives 25 bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. There were no honor counts on the day; Jeff Prein posted the only near miss with 296 in his second qualifying game.
Tour co-sponsor Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop donated a Motiv Rogue bowling ball at cost, wpn by Gail Myers. Host center Schwoegler’s provided a lineage discount and added four $10 gift cards, won by Mark Newkirk, Jeff Sweeney, Rob Warren, and Jerry VanDenLengenberg. Total proceeds from these resulted in $222 added to the tournament’s prize fund. MAST extends a huge Thank You to Phoenix Pro Shop and Schwoegler’s Entertainment Center for their generosity.
