Chris Pounders defeated Jeff Prein 218-157 to win the MAST event at Tower Lanes in Beaver Dam Sunday. Pounders qualified sixth at 888, then continued that pace averaging 223 through match play en route to the win. This was Pounders’ fourteenth career MAST title.
Sunday’s prize fund received a great boost from a pair of $300 donations, one from Joe Janz & Janz Home Improvement, and the other from tour co-sponsor M & J Truck and Auto Repair. Resulting payouts Sunday were $510 for first, $303 for second, $218 for 3rd-4th, $168 for 5th-8th, and $124 for 9th-12th.
Forty-one bowlers braved snowy weather conditions to compete on Kegel’s Middle Road oil pattern. The cut after four games of qualifying was 837. Riley Smith led qualifying at 966, he receives twenty-five bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race for his effort. There were no honor counts on the day.
Tour co-sponsor Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop donated a Track In2ition bowling ball at cost, won by Cody Homan. Host center Tower Lanes added two $10 gift cards, won by Jim Janz and Tim Janz. Combined sponsorships and proceeds resulted in $734 added to the prize fund for this event.
