Mike Hoffman collected his twentieth career MAST title at Dream Lanes in Madison Sunday, defeating Scott Helm 267-212 to win the Survivor finals. With the win, Hoffman joins Jeff Richgels (27) as the only bowlers to win twenty MAST titles.
Hoffman earned $477 for the win, with Helm taking home $345 for second. The other survivor-round payouts Sunday were $225 for 3rd-4th and $178 for 5th-8th. MAST also paid one additional cash spot of $102, going to Chris Gibbons (9th – 969). Hoffman also earned $60 from the Bet To Win pot.
Thirty-six bowlers competed on the 2020 Wisconsin State Tournament Team Event pattern. After four games of qualifying the cut to survivor-round play was 972. Chris Pounders led qualifying at 1,027, earning him twenty-five bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. Despite the high scoring pace, there were no honor counts during the day Sunday.
Tour co-sponsor Matt Maly and M & J Truck and Auto Repair added $500 to the prize fund for this event. Tour co-sponsor Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop donated a Motiv Pride bowling ball at cost, won by Mark Newkirk. Host center Dream Lanes provided a lineage discount and added three $10 gift cards, won by Hoffman, Todd Kjell, and Dylon Wilde. Combined proceeds resulted in $608 added to the tournament prize fund. MAST extends a huge Thank You to M & J Truck and Auto, Phoenix Pro Shop, and Dream Lanes for their generosity.
