Chris Gibbons and Matt Mysliwiec defeated Chris Pounders and Jeff Richgels 450-402 to win the MAST Doubles event at Lake Ripley Lanes in Cambridge Saturday. The win marks Mysliwiec’s first career MAST title and Gibbons’ ninth title.

Gibbons and Mysliwiec qualified fifth at 1,839, and advanced to the title match with victories over Tony Oliva & Nick DeCesaro 505-475 and Kevin Punzel & Jenny Wonders 415-403. Pounders and Richgels qualified third at 1,861, and defeated Matt Pursell & Kodi Porter 464-299 and Don Benner & Danny Verdecchia 426-418 to earn their spot in the finals.

Gibbons and Mysliwiec earned $770 for the win, with Pounders and Richgels taking home $526 for second. The other match play payouts Saturday were $304 for 3rd-4th and $226 for 5th-8th. Gibbons and Mysliwiec also won $90 from the Bet To Win pot.

Fifty-six bowlers competed across two squads on Lake Ripley’s house pattern. The cut after eight games of qualifying was 1,807. Billy Foertsch and Shaun Taliaferro led qualifying at 1,901. Pounders was the high individual qualifier on the day at 1,004, earning him twenty-five bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. Despite the higher scoring pace, there were no honor counts Saturday; Dan Lemiesz had the only near-miss with a 296 to open the afternoon qualifying squad.

Tour co-sponsor Bob Holzbauer and Phoenix Pro Shop provided a Storm Trend 2 bowling ball at cost, won by Kodi Porter. Tournament host Jeremy Porter and Lake Ripley Lanes donated $100 to the prize fund, provided a lineage discount, and added four gift cards won by Taliaferro, Becky James, Scott Kramer, and Gail Myers. Combined proceeds resulted in $511 added to the prize fund for this event. MAST extends a huge Thank You to Phoenix Pro Shop and Lake Ripley Lanes for their generosity.
