Cody Ramsden and Trevor Habich defeated Jake Harrison and Brendan Holl 529-347 in the Survivor final to win the MAST split-squad doubles event at Lake Ripley Lanes in Cambridge Saturday. This was Habich’s second career MAST title and Ramsden’s first.

Ramsden and Habich qualified second at 1,929. Ramsden posted a 279 game to finish his qualifying set at 950, climbing from tenth to second. Habich was the high individual qualifier on the day at 979, finishing his set with games of 279 and 259 to separate from the pack and lock up the second seed. The duo each added another 270 game in the first two rounds of Survivor play, with Habich shooting 270 to lead their 462 in the first round, and Ramsden posting 277 as part of their 497 semifinal score to advance to the final.

Harrison and Holl were part of one of the wilder qualifying finishes in MAST history, finishing in a three-team tie for the eighth and final qualifying spot at 1,762 as the cut dropped for the first time all day. They won a two-frame rolloff 106-98-62 over the teams of Jeff Prein & Tim Morris and Danny Verdecchia & Aaron Turner to claim the final qualifying spot, before posting team games of 494 and 479 in the first two Survivor rounds to reach the final.

Ramsden and Habich earned $812 for the win, with Harrison and Holl taking home $540 for second. The other Survivor-round payouts Saturday were $328 for 3rd-4th and $238 for 5th-8th. Verdecchia, Turner, Prein and Morris were each awarded half the amount of a 5th-8th payout for their participation in the rolloff. Ramsden and Habich also earned $160 for the Bet To Win pot.

Thirty doubles teams competed on Lake Ripley’s house pattern. Dan Marazzo and Tony Oliva led qualifying at 1,936, with Marazzo leading the first squad wire-to-wire at 969, and the duo never falling lower than third. Despite the higher scoring pace, there were no honor counts posted Saturday.

Tour co-sponsor Ten Pin Alley Pro Shop provided a Storm Phaze A.I. bowling ball at cost, won by Hunter Pursell. Tournament host Jeremy Porter and Lake Ripley Lanes added three gift cards, won by Pursell, Kevin Thompson, and Shaun Taliaferro. Combined proceeds resulted in an additional $504 for this event’s prize fund. MAST extends a huge Thank You to Ten Pin Alley Pro Shop and Lake Ripley Lanes for their generosity.
