Ethan Jones defeated Brent Ritchie 277-230 to win the MAST event at Leisure Lanes in Monroe Sunday, earning his first career MAST title.
Jones qualified tenth at 904, then averaged over 250 through match play en route to the win.
Ritchie led qualifying at 1,036 including two of the day’s three honor counts (300-259-258=817), and advanced to the final match by winning a two-frame roll-off 40-39 over Corey Schmidt after the two finished their semifinal match tied at 217.
Jones earned $610 for the win, with Ritchie taking home $330 for second. The other match play payouts Sunday were $241 for 3rd-4th, $152 for 5th-8th, and $127 for 9th-12th. Jones also earned $75 from the Bet To Win pot.
Forty-one bowlers competed on Leisure’s house pattern. The cut after four games of qualifying was 883. Derek Eoff posted the day’s third honor count with 300 in his final qualifying game to climb from 22nd to eighth.
Devon’s Friendly Inn Bar & Grill sponsored this event for $300. Storm donated an Ion Pro Solid bowling ball at cost, won by Steven Judd. Our host Chad Svendsen and Leisure Lanes added three $10 gift cards, won by Corey Schmidt, Gail Myers, and Chris Pounders. Total proceeds resulted in $491 added to the prize fund for this event.
