Congratulations to Chad Kloss, this year’s MAST year end tournament champion. Kloss received $1000 and an eagle trophy for his win. This is his first MAST title!

The year-end tournament was sponsored by Badger Pro Shop and Prairie Lanes. Jim Wipperfurth of Badger Pro Shop continues to be a great supporter of the MAST and donated $1000 directly to the prize fund. Prairie Lanes added $232 to the prize fund by charging a reduced lineage for the tournament.

The MAST also thanks Jess Parizo of Street Rags for the donation of trophies for each tournament throughout the year, including impressive Eagles for the Year-end champion, runner up, and high average winner! Rick Thomas took home the high average eagle, averaging 238 over 9 events.

Thirty-nine bowlers competed on a house condition for the 12 match play spots of the final tournament. It took a score of at least 1867 to advance out of qualifying. Multiple honor scores were bowled which included four 11 in-a-rows (299s by Bob Holzbauer and Paul Bloemer and a 298 and 290 by Chris Pounders). Pounders 290 and 298 were also followed by a 228 for an 816 series. This led Pounders to be high qualifier with a score of 2028.

On the second day of the tournament, the top 12 qualifiers bowled 11 games of round robin match play followed by a 12th game position round. Chad Kloss led the day ending with a score of 5106 or +1106 for 20 games. Kloss jumped leader Kevin Punzel in the 12th game position round by bowling a 245 over Punzel’s 215, leaving Punzel in 2nd position for stepladder. Chris Gibbons also jumped Jeff Richgels to take the 4th place in stepladder finals with Dave Beres positioned 3rd. Honor scores for the day included an 806 bowled by Richgels during games 4, 5, and 6 which included a 300. Richgels followed that up with a second 300 in game 9. Beres also had an honor score of 816 in games 7, 8, and 9.

In stepladder finals, Beres defeated Gibbons (278 to 232) followed by Punzel (235 to 206). Gibbons received $550 for 4th place while Punzel received $670 for 3rd. Beres then met Kloss in the title match and was defeated 267 to 238. Beres received $800 for second place.

Congratulations to Greg Thomas, the high point earner for the season, who received $500 for his accomplishment.

Thanks to all the bowlers for a great session! The MAST 2012-2013 schedule will be posted in August.
