Chris Pounders and Derek Eoff defeated Ron Blanchar and Mike Hoffman 464-425 to win the Survivor finals of the MAST split-squad doubles event at Middleton Sport Bowl Saturday. This marks the seventeenth career MAST title for Pounders and sixteenth for Eoff.
Pounders and Eoff claimed the eighth & final qualifying spot in Survivor-round play at 1,882, and posted team games of 494 and 465 en route to the win. Blanchar and Hoffman qualified seventh at 1,887, and shot team games of 417 and 460 to reach the finals.
Pounders and Eoff earned $872 for the win, with Blanchar and Hoffman taking home $580 for second. The other Survivor-round payouts Saturday were $354 for 3rd-4th and $256 for 5th-8th. Pounders and Eoff also earned $170 for the Bet to Win pot.
Thirty-four doubles teams competed on Sport Bowl’s house shot. Billy Foertsch (1,022) and Aaron Turner (932) led qualifying at 1,954. Hoffman was the high individual qualifier at 1,029, earning him fifty bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. Despite the relatively-high scoring pace, there were no honor counts posted Saturday; there were several near-misses, including Foertsch’s 794 start including a 297 game in qualifying, and Danny Verdecchia shooting 299 in his third qualifying game.
Tour co-sponsor Bill Pounders and Ten Pin Alley Pro Shop donated a Roto Grip Attention Star bowling ball at cost, won by Bob Richardson. Host center Middleton Sport Bowl added $10 gift cards won by Dick Thomas and Don Benner. Total proceeds resulted in $393 added to the prize fund for this event. MAST extends a huge Thank You to Ten Pin Alley Pro Shop and Middleton Sport Bowl for their generosity.
Our next event is at Viking Lanes in Stoughton on Saturday, February 24th at 11:30am. This will be a Singles event on Viking’s house shot, and will feature Match Play finals. King Pin Management will be adding $100 to the prize fund for this event. We hope to see you all there.
