Rick Thomas defeated Billy Foertsch 227-221 to win the MAST event at Viking Lanes in Stoughton Saturday. Thomas overcame a missed 10-pin mid-way through the match and struck on his final five shots to shut out Foertsch for his thirteenth career MAST title.
Thomas qualified eleventh at 931 and averaged just under 225 through his four matches en route to the win. Foertsch was the sixteenth seed at 914, shooting 270 in his final qualifying game to climb from 32nd to claim the final spot in match play, and averaged over 228 in his first three matches to reach the final.
Thomas earned $508 for the win, with Foertsch taking home $359 for second. The other match-play payouts Saturday were $203 for 3rd-4th, $138 for 5th-8th, and $116 for 9th-16th.
Sixty-two bowlers competed on Viking’s house shot. Robert Vater led qualifying at 1,054 including a 794 start, earning him fifty bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. There were two honor counts Saturday, with 300 games from Chris Jackson and James Hall during qualifying.

Our next tournament will be a split-squad doubles event at Rock River Lanes in Fort Atkinson on Sunday, March 3rd. First squad starts at 11:00am and second squad at 2:00pm.
