Beres Wins Rock River For Fifth MAST Title

Dave Beres defeated Chris Gibbons 260-247 to win the MAST event at Rock River Lanes in Fort Atkinson Sunday. Beres qualified seventh at 888 and averaged 232 through four games of match play en route to the win. This was his fifth career MAST title.

Beres earned $660 for the win, and also collected $140 from the Bet To Win pot. Gibbons took home $368 for second. The other match play payouts Sunday were $235 for 3rd-4th, $178 for 5th-8th, and $130 for 9th-16th. MAST also paid one additional cash spot with $73 for 17th (Mike Hoffman, 841).

Sixty-seven bowlers competed on the 40-foot Kegel Sphinx oil pattern. The cut after four games of qualifying was 846. Brent Ritchie led qualifying at 958, he receives twenty-five bonus points in the M & J Truck and Auto Points Race. There were no honor counts on the day.

Tour sponsor M & J Truck and Auto Repair added $300 to the prize fund for this event. Rock River Pro Shop donated a Radical Katana Slash bowling ball, won by Bob Sheehy. Host center Rock River Lanes added three $10 gift cards, won by Beres, Dave Labinski, and Joe Janz. Combined proceeds resulted in $572 added to the tournament prize fund.
